Alejandro and I met in Altozano Country Club located in Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico.  At that time he was the head professional with big ideas about climbing to the PGA Tour.

We became good friends and played many rounds of golf together at this gorgeous mountain course.

Alejandro had worked with the famous LPGA golfer, Lorena Ochoa, as her "bolero"... which translates to placing buckets of golf balls at her practice site so she could hone and refine her game... which she did... and rose to number one in the world.

Alex, as he likes to be called, spoke with me (in Spanish of course) about working together to refine his game and prepare him for a shot at getting on tour.  Every Sunday for nearly a year, we hit the course... me... with notebook in hand, recording his stats and working on his mental game.  Alex was very even tempered and kept his emotions in check on and off the course.

Our work culminated with a trip to the US to play in a Monday qualifier... We had been negotiating with an array of potential supporters, including the well known family of Carlos Slim.  Playing on tour requires more funds than this coach could raise... so sad to say... the trip to the US ended in a few wonderful rounds of golf at the Veranda Club near Fort Myers, Florida.  Alex and his wife, Monica, spent a handful of wonderful days with my wife, Carolina, and me... and his PGA Tour career aspirations were put on hold.
